Id doesnt tilt up when youre holding the camera vertically, the only thing I wanted the screen to do. useless.

Best review! I was following the Sony sel70200 F4 weeks and lost it to another buyer i ended buying the tamron a bit cheaper and was worried if that was a mistake after your review and comments on UA-cam i think it was the right choice! Skater photos from the tamron just blow my mind 🤣🤣🤣

Just done mine. Updated to 2.02 on my mac. No issues at all. Lost my settings but that was not a problem. Do not stop the process once its starts , be patient. If you are on 1.32 , you need to go to 1.35 then 2.01 ( one download with two files from sony ) and last 2.02 which is actually a file that needs to be transferred to a sd memory card , format the card before transferring and done from the camera. Also really important, charge your battery to 100%. Follow All instructions and you ll be golden. Monitor&Control app is really awesome. the new menu is great , all good here.

Idk, i got my A7 ii open box for $599. No kit lens, 3 shutter count. Watching this, idk what the RP offers over it, 4k video? Half assed though.

Just bought 5dmk2 for 250 euros. 1080p raw video with magic lantern. Go and beat that for 250!!! 800 for this ia realy not worth... You can buy an sony alpha something for that. And be way better off! I think the next good camera is r5. But thats completely different category.

I don't own an RP & will probably save for an R8, as it seems the RPs AF is a bit slow, but I do really like the images I've seen the RP produce.

I'ts a very capable camera but prefer the R in regard compared to this one.

Dan, are you still using this lens? At about 2K budget, I'm struggling between this one and the Sony 135mm GM prime. Other than the obvious differences, as long as the autofocus is decent in video and it is as sharp as you've experienced, I'm really kind of leaning towards the Tamron for it's zoom flexibility. First world problems for sure!

Waaa waaa. It works fine. I had none of those problems. Sometimes change kind of sucks, but it’s the only way to move forward. Use CAMSET and hopefully you’ll have an easier life.

any pointers as to why the A9II EVF would show so many artifacts ( purple blue moire ) and has so little resolution especially while half pressing the shutter ?

If u shoot like a professional and know how about lights in photography, u feel more than enuf with DR in canon cameras... i prefer better colours instead 😌

Dan I consider that camera, but choose the original R. Since I’ve moved on to Fuji because I grew tired of cost of gear and most importantly I felt Canon didn’t value me as a consumer! Full frame or not there are better options out there!

I worked as editor in chief for a PC magazine back in the 90s and we had those press trips as well. For me as a camera buyer it is a two step process. The initial release will give me info that a new camera is on the market and its main points. That will already tell me if it might be something for me or not. If the initial video also includes some hands on testing in a good environment that aligns with the cameras purpose of use, it is even better. I will still not buy it just because of this info. For me to purchase a camera, I will also look up more "scientific" tests as well like DPR, Gerald Undone, DXOmark, PhotonsToPhotos and others. A new camera is after all an investment which costs a lot of money and one has to get it right. I think what you as a UA-camr needs to do is to decide if you focus on only the initial release or on a later more scientific test with a production product. And if you do a more scientific test, use a standardized testing method so one can learn how you do your tests. You can as a UA-camr off course also do both types of videos.

TL;DR don’t buy this outdated thing, pay 300 more for the R8

Great video! Why buy new? The Eos R is much better in many aspects, especially the battery.

Right now, Sony a7iii is the best affordable full-frame mirrorless camera. Amazon has it on sale for $1,300.00 usd and if you get it on EDU discount with Adorama, you can get it for under $1,200.00 usd. This is literally the best deal for a full-frame Mirrorless camera that still takes great pictures and can be use for a lot of client gigs. The video side isn't great anymore, but the photography side of the a7iii will hold up for another 10 years.

It takes great pictures it's just slow. It's been a good value though.

There is no better $900 full frame camera for photography. If you want a do everything camera this isn't it. But if you want a $900 full frame camera that can take beautiful pictures in controlled scenarios it's wonderful. It's not a low light beast. It's not a sports camera. But it's amazing as a studio camera or in situations where you have some control (e.g. Using lights or strobes )

I still have one too... terrible for sports, but the image quality is pretty good (although the sensor lacks dynamic range). Battery range is lacking. HD video (24-60p) with autofocus is excellent (for 8bit content), but not great for 4K or super slo-mo.

I never understood why a lot of camera brands make it so that you can’t charge the battery inside the camera and use the camera at the same time. I never understood why some camera brands make it so that you have to completely remove the battery and put it in a separate charging dock and just don’t have the ability to charge the battery inside the camera at all. Samsung has the ability to charge the battery inside the camera and you can still use the camera while you’re doing so. I really just never understood why other brands do that when tone comes out with a bunch of cameras that can charge the battery inside the camera and all allows you to continue using the camera at the same time. This is one of the major reasons why I chose to start investing into Samsung. They had not made cameras since 2014. I just think that my Samsung camera still to this day have some of the best image quality available. I know that the Canon 90D has a 32mp count but I don’t have that camera and I do have multiple Samsung cameras NX1 and NX500 and NX30 which are all pretty amazing.

I'd probably snag an used A7iii for about the same price but that is a crazy low price for a new full frame mirrorless! Great vid as always, Dan!

Its being used in Ukraine for combat photography right now.

It was my first full frame camera and I learned a lot with it. It still delivers amazing results (for photography) and it has one of the best grips for my hands of all the cameras that I own. Having said that, it’s been my webcam for the last four years, non stop 8 hours or more every working day and it never overheated or had any glitch. I think it will outlive my other cameras 😂
